In honor of the inaugural National Moth Week, the Garden in the Woods on Hemenway Road is hosting a special event Thursday from 8 p.m. to midnight. Biologist Jenn Forman Orth  and naturalists from the Athol Bird and Nature Club  will lead the exploration of the nighttime world of moths. Participants can expect to see up to 100 moth species in addition to beetles and other bugs. Preregistration is required; participants should bring a flashlight or headlamp, water, and insect repellent. Cameras are optional. E-mail jformanorth@gmail.com  for the registration link.
