7 race to replace Fargo for state Senate

For weeks, state Senator Susan Fargo stood by as several members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation endorsed candidates in the race to replace her in the Third Middlesex District.

But last week, Fargo decided she also has something to say.

Did you press Fargo as to why she waited so long?  She missed the last cycle of the suburban weeklies prior to the election.  Her endorsement would have been significantly more valuable a few weeks ago.  It's not like anything changed in the meantime - the other candidates have been out there spreading their messages for months.

A cynic might wonder if she was holding out for a high price, and seeing it was late in the game, decided to take the best offer on the table.

Mike Barrett not only has the experience to be effective from day one, he has the guts to speak the truth about what needs to be done. Can we afford to let someone "learn on the job" as Joe Goodwin wants to do? I think not.
