Chris Randall thought if monarch butterflies were going to schlep all the way to Massachusetts, the least he could do is save their offspring from the mower’s indiscriminate blades. This summer, for the 16th year, Randall rescued monarch eggs, plucking the milkweed on which they had been laid from a field near a house he visits annually. After raising and releasing 150 winged wonders, he delivered his last two caterpillars to a fifth-grade class in Concord earlier this month.
