The Milford Water Co. is seeking an 83 percent rate to pay for a new $20 million water treatment plant that the state ordered the private utility to build after a two-week drinking water ban three years ago. Town officials vow to fight the increase – the second in two years – and state Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office says it will also be stepping into the fray.
