Help wanted for town committees

Want to get involved in local government, but not sure where to start? There are several openings for residents on town boards and committees. The Board of Selectmen is looking for a volunteer for the citizen-at-large seat on the Fire and EMS Advisory Committee, which works with the fire chief. Selectmen also need three people to serve on the Cable Television Advisory Committee, and two people to serve on the commission overseeing certain post-employment benefits for former town workers. The cable TV committee is a three-year appointment. The other vacancies are for two-year terms. Potential volunteers may send an application form, which is available online at www.uptonma.gov, or letter of interest via e-mail to shakala@uptonma.gov, or by mail to the Board of Selectmen, Town Hall, 1 Main St., Box 1, Upton, MA 01568.
