Learn about Lyme disease at library

Jean Sniffin, a public health nurse, will talk about Lyme disease Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Sherborn Libary. Sniffin’s free presentation will include a discussion of symptoms and treatment of the tick-borne illness, as well as instruction on how to safely remove a tick, how to avoid contact with ticks, and tips on keeping pets safe. Lyme disease is transmitted through the bite of an infected black-legged tick, and symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a skin rash, according to the Centers for Disease Control website. Infection can spread to joints, the heart, and nervous system if left untreated.
