Free ‘Humbug!’ for area youths


The Franklin Performing Arts Company is holding a free performance of “Humbug!’’ for members of area youth organizations Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium at Horace Mann Middle School, 224 Oak St. A contemporary adaption of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,’’ the popular holiday musical features a 10-piece band and a cast of 150 area students, community performers, and professional artists. The ensemble will distribute free tickets through community organizations, including the Hockomock Area YMCA, local Best Buddies chapters, the Franklin Food Pantry, and the Friend in Me Theater Company.
