Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston has announced two $1 million designated gifts to develop a new athletic complex on the Upper School’s Shoolman Campus, at 125 Wells Ave. The gifts come from Barbara and Frank Resnek, and Christina and Mike Gordon, according to the school, which offers a curriculum in secular and Judaic studies for children ages 18 months through eighth grade. The improvements will provide a state-of-the-art complex, including a regulation-sized outdoor synthetic turf field, improved outdoor lighting, and significant upgrades to the indoor athletic field facility on the campus. According to the school, the gifts come with a new strategic partnership and a long-term lease agreement between the school and Valeo Futbol Club, a youth soccer organization that will use both the outdoor and indoor facilities when not in use by Schechter students. Construction is expected to be completed in the spring, when a dedication will be held, the school said.
