A new pamphlet, “A Resident’s Guide to Snow Removal Operations and Procedures,” is available on the town’s website, www.ayer.ma.us, or from the Department of Public Works. Among other tips, the guide tells residents to not shovel snow into a roadway from a residential or commercial property; to clear snow from nearby hydrants and catch basins; to caution children not to build snow forts along the edges of streets in their neighborhoods; and, if a resident needs to drive somewhere during a storm, to wait until the streets have received at least an initial plowing. The DPW office is on Brook Street, and can be reached at 978-772-8240.
