Town sets new property tax rate

The town’s property tax rate for this fiscal year has been set at $12.80 per $1,000 of valuation, after its review and approval by the state Department of Revenue, according to the Board of Assessors. The new rate means the owner of a single-family home with the town’s median assessed value, $803,750, will pay an annual tax bill of $10,288, according to figures provided by the assessors’ office. Applications for a property tax abatement must be submitted to the Board of Assessors by Feb. 1, when the first of two final payments is due. For questions about a bill or more information concerning abatements or exemptions, contact the assessors’ office at 508-785-0032, ext. 223.
