New service seeks volunteer drivers

ITNGreaterBoston, a new service that matches volunteer drivers with senior citizens and the visually impaired, is looking for volunteers in Waltham. The organization is looking for community members with at least three years of driving experience, a clean record, and an insured, registered and inspected car. Drivers may take individuals to medical appointments, the grocery store, bank or pharmacy, to visit friends and family, or to see a play or movie, among other destinations. Volunteers need to commit to about two hours per week, and can select the time and route that best work for them. Drivers also earn ride credits that can be used for friends or family, or donated to help cover fares for low-income riders. In addition, each driver gets two free memberships yearly to use for themselves, friends, or family. Those interested in volunteering should contact ITNGreaterBoston at 508-309-7375 or jpbushnell@itngreaterboston.org.
