Arlington raising the ante in library card game

Arlington has issued a library card registration challenge to neighboring communities for February, and if it loses, library director Ryan Livergood will dress up as a dog. Livergood said he is betting that Arlington’s Robbins and Fox libraries can get a higher percentage increase in new library card registrations in February 2013  over February 2012 . Libraries in Belmont, Lexington, and Somerville have already accepted the registration challenge, and Livergood said if Arlington loses, he will visit the winning library dressed as Clifford the Big Red Dog. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is partnering with local businesses to promote the challenge by offering deals and discounts to local library card holders during February, according to Livergood.
