Nomination papers for local election available Feb. 4

Nomination papers for local elected office will be available from Town Clerk Elizabeth T. Greendale’s office on Feb. 4. In order for a candidate’s name to appear on the May 21 town election ballot, the candidate must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter in town, and collect the signatures of 50 registered voters. The signed nomination papers must be returned to the clerk’s office by April 2. There will be one open position on the Board of Selectmen, where chairman Joseph P. Marsden’s term is expiring, and two on the School Committee, where Carol J. Emmons’s and Virginia P. Murphy’s terms are ending. In addition, Greendale’s three-year term is expiring, as are terms on the Board of Assessors, Finance Committee, Board of Health, Housing Authority, Planning Board, and other town boards and committees. For more information, contact the town clerk at Town Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or call 508-429-0601.
