Renew dog licenses

The town clerk’s office is reminding residents who own dogs to either apply for or renew their dog licenses for the 2013 calendar year. According to the town, all dogs age 6 months or older must be licensed with the clerk’s office. Licenses are valid for one year, from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, and must be renewed each year in January. The deadline to register a dog is March 1; after that, the city will charge fines. Failure to renew existing dog licenses within 30 days results in a $25 fine, with an additional $25 fined for each month the resident does not renew the license. Failure to register a new dog results in a $100 fine. Licenses cost $10 for a spayed or neutered dog, or $15 if the dog is not spayed or neutered. Applicants must submit rabies vaccination and spay or neuter certificates for verification by the town. Officials will return these documents, along with a certificate and tag, once they have reviewed it. Residents over 70 years old may qualify for a free license for their dogs. The dog registration form is available at www.natickma.gov, and questions can be answered by calling 508-647-6430, ext. 4. The office is open Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
