A party will be held to mark the closing of the iconic Lord’s Department Store at 446 Main St. from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 15. The event will include a ginger ale toast, a display of Lord’s memorabilia, and a chance for photos at the legendary lunch counter. Music will be provided by a variety of community groups. Customers and friends will have a chance to make an audio recording of their favorite memories of the store, in addition to adding pages to a memory book that has been on display at the store since last month. Personal memories may also be submitted by e-mailing email@example.com. The audio recordings and a copy of the memory book will be preserved by the Medfield Historical Society. The society is also negotiating to preserve the red neon Lord’s sign. The store, closing officially on Feb. 28 after 73 years in business, was sold to Dedham developers Salvatore Capital Partners, who have not identified a new tenant for the space.
