Selectmen begin budget reviews

The Board of Selectmen last week reviewed an update on the town’s proposed operating budget for next fiscal year that was prepared by the assistant town administrator for finance and budget. As a follow-up, selectmen will meet with the Finance Committee and School Committee on Tuesday to discuss various items on the budget. Also last week, selectmen reviewed capital-improvement requests totaling nearly $1.7 million, while the draft budget for the year starting July 1 has earmarked not quite $1.5 million for the category. The board will take up the capital spending plan during its regular meeting Monday night. Both meetings will begin at 7 p.m. in the Town Offices, 37 Shattuck St.
