Proposed budget is $36.8 million

Town Administrator Michael Sullivan has proposed an operating budget of $36.8 million for the 2014 fiscal year, which begins July 1. That’s a 3.2 percent increase over the current year’s operating budget. The increase would allow for a 4.8 percent rise in school spending, with smaller increases for most other departments, Sullivan said. The budget proposal includes around $160,000 to train and hire public safety dispatchers. Currently, Maynard police officers staff the town’s 911 lines.
