Deadline to opt out of mosquito spraying

Residents who want to exclude their property from mosquito-control spraying this summer should send a certified letter to the town clerk by Friday. Framingham is one of more than two dozen municipalities covered by the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project, a state agency that oversees a regional campaign against the insects. Spraying is usually scheduled in the summer, when mosquito levels peak. If a resident wishes to be excluded, he or she should send a certified letter with the resident's name, address, telephone number, names of all neighbors, and the spraying program for which the exclusion is requested to the town clerk's office in the Memorial Building, 150 Concord St., Framingham, MA 01702. Additionally, the boundaries of the excluded property should be marked every 50 feet by orange surveyor’s tape or other means. The type of markings should be stated in the letter. For information on the pesticide applications by the East Middlesex agency or the process to exclude properties from spraying, call 781-899-5730.
