Arlington names Janger as high school principal

The school district announced Monday that Matthew Janger has been hired as Arlington High School’s next principal. Janger has been serving as the principal of Mount Desert Island High School in Bar Harbor, Maine, since 2009, and will assume his new role in Arlington on July 1, according to Superintendent Kathleen Bodie’s office. In the announcement, Bodie said Janger brings strong administrative and teaching experience, and a deep understanding of educational practices. He previously served as principal of Wines Elementary School in Ann Arbor, Mich., and has taught high school English. He has a doctorate in education foundations and policy from the University of Michigan . Janger will replace Mary Villano, who has been serving as Arlington High’s interim principal since Charles Skidmore retired from the job in 2011.
