Patriots Day parade this afternoon

The town will hold its annual Patriots Day parade beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday at Massachusetts Avenue and Brattle Street. Shriners, clowns, bands, and other local favorites will participate in the parade, which will end at Bates Road in East Arlington. The celebrations will continue Monday with ceremonies at Town Hall at 7:15 a.m., and then the Old Burying Ground, where Minutemen reenactors will help pay respects to the residents of Menotomy, as the town was known in 1775, who lost their lives on the first day of the American Revolutionary War. Also, a reenactment of the rides by Paul Revere and William Dawes is expected to reach Town Hall between 12:30 and 1 p.m. For more information on local events and activities, visit www.arlingtonma.gov.
