The Police Department is urging residents to sign up for its basic firearms safety course, to be held April 27 at 9 a.m. at the police station, 41 Lowell St. The course meets state requirements to apply for a license to carry firearms and a firearms ID card. The class will cover basic firearms safety issues, and provide hands-on experience loading and unloading revolvers and semiautomatic handguns. The cost for the course is $100.
