One hundred years after Brookline resident Francis Ouimet became the first amateur to win the US Open, the best-selling author who told his story is coming to town. Mark Frost, the author of “The Greatest Game Ever Played,” will give a lecture and sign copies of his book Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Dexter and Southfield Schools’ Clay Center at 20 Newton St. The 20-year-old Ouimet beat the world’s best golfers to win the 1913 US Open, which was played at The Country Club, across the street from his home. The event is being sponsored by the town’s Recreation Department, along with the Dexter and Southfield Schools and The Country Club; tickets are $15 and are available at www.brooklinerec.com .
