More than 500 third-grade students will visit the Department of Public Works on Tuesday morning, and the open house will be extended to the public in the afternoon. Visitors will get to see and touch the DPW’s equipment and trucks, and learn about what the department does, as part of the town’s observance of National Public Works Week. The local students will visit the municipal service center at 870 Hammond St. beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the public open house will go from noon to 6 p.m.
