Grants to nonprofits top $47k

The Watertown Community Foundation gave $47,490 to 21 local nonprofit organizations as part of its spring grant cycle, the foundation announced last week. It had received requests seeking more than $85,000 in grants this season, but had to turn away applicants due to a limited budget, said executive director Michael Schrade. Those who received awards include the Armenian Library and Museum of America, the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Friends of Mount Auburn Cemetery, the Historical Society of Watertown, Hosmer Elementary School, and the Watertown Boys & Girls Club.
