Since the shutdown of Westborough State Hospital in 2010, town residents have been waiting to learn the fate of the site. They can hear the town’s view at a 7 p.m. hearing Monday in the Westborough High School auditorium, 90 West Main St. The session is being held by the Westborough State Hospital Acquisition Committee, which was created by selectmen in 2011 to research the possibility of the town purchasing the property from the state. The ad hoc committee is slated to hold three public hearings to present its findings, discuss other possible reuses of the site, and hear residents’ opinions before Special Town Meeting in October. The effort was launched after local officials opposed plans to use the property for a residential development with more than 500 single- and multifamily units.
