Library to restore Monday hours

The Hopkinton Public Library will again open at 10 a.m. on Mondays starting this week. Director Rownak Hussain said that ever since the library eliminated three hours on Mondays in 2008 because of budget constraints, she has heard a continual stream of patrons asking for them to be restored. “It is particularly popular with families who have small children,” she said. This fiscal year she was able to find the approximately $6,000 needed to add six staff hours without adding a new position or increasing anyone’s status to full time, she said. “I saw this as a mission-critical project, and selectmen agreed,” Hussain said. “With a very small investment the town has added a real service.” More information about library programs can be found at www.hopkintonlibrary.org.
