Superintendent Paul Stein has appointed John Ritchie to serve as interim principal of Wayland High School for next school year. Patrick Tutwiler recently resigned as principal to take a position in Brighton. Stein said the school district will set up a hiring committee in the fall to search for a permanent replacement. Ritchie, who retired from his career as a full-time educator in 2009, has served in interim roles for several school systems, including as headmaster at Brookline High School in 2011-12. He also was the principal at Winchester High School for seven years, and superintendent/principal at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High for 13, Stein said in announcing Ritchie’s appointment last week.
