At its most recent meeting, the Board of Selectmen appointed Joseph Topol to fill a vacancy for town constable. As one of Bedford’s four constables, he will serve a three-year term, serving civil process papers and delivering legal documents such as subpoenas, summonses, and warrants. A licensed private detective and auxiliary police officer in Newton, Topol is also a constable in Carlisle, Concord, and Lincoln.
