Agency offers help with mosquitoes

The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project has set a tentative schedule of Tuesdays and Wednesdays this month for investigating calls about mosquito infestations in town. Complaints may be registered by calling the regional agency’s office at 508-393-3055, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The agency will dispatch crews to treat areas as required. The mosquito control project urges residents to prevent water from accumulating outdoors in planters, toys, unmaintained swimming pools, or other containers, since stagnant water is a prime breeding site for mosquito species that can carry and spread the West Nile virus. A notice about the spray schedule is posted on the project’s phone system after 3:30 p.m., and on its website, www.cmmcp.org. For more information, call the town’s Board of Health office at 508-429-0605.
