Town to install high-tech water meters

The town’s Department of Public Works is preparing to upgrade residential water meters with new technology that will eliminate estimated water and sewer bills, and allow quarterly meter readings to be conducted from outside each customer’s property. East National Water LLC of Palmer has been contracted to install approximately 96 meters with the remote reading system as part of a pilot program. Homeowners will receive a letter alerting them to the impending change, and directing them to contact East National Water to schedule an installation appointment. After the first round of installations is finished, the town plans to replace all of its customers’ meters over the next few months.
