Town retirement payments climb 12 percent

The town doled out 12 percent more — or $28,746 — in payments to the Worcester County Regional Retirement System last fiscal year, which ended June 30. The regional retirement fund for public employees remains underfunded, and officials expect a similar increase this year, according to a recent town government audit.
