Hospital works on new geriatrics unit

A $4.7 million, 10,000-square-foot geriatric psychiatric unit being built by Nashoba Valley Medical Center is expected to be completed in early December, hospital officials say. The 16-patient section will be geared to treating individuals 55 years of age and older. The hospital’s core service area is Ayer, Groton, Harvard, Shirley, Pepperell, and Townsend. It is owned by Steward Health Care System LLC, a for-profit entity based in Boston.
