Learn to be prepared for emergencies

Local police and health officials will host a program next week to help individuals prepare themselves, their families, and their homes for an emergency, as part of National Preparedness Month. The free workshop will be held in the Health Department’s Denny Room at 11 Pierce St. from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 17. Members of the Brookline Emergency Management Team will present what to include in a household emergency kit, and participants will be given several items to get them started, including a carrying bag and flashlight. The program will also include tips on preparing for a wide range of emergencies. To register for the program, contact Dawn Sibor at the Health Department at 617-730-2656 or via e-mail at dsibor@brooklinema.gov .
