Town offers arts grant-writing class

Artists and cultural organizations seeking support for community projects can learn how to make compelling grant proposals during a workshop being hosted by the town’s Commission for the Arts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 103 at Town Hall. The commission is collecting requests for funds that will be distributed next year, when it expects to have more than $9,000 from the Massachusetts Cultural Council to support local art, science, and humanities activities. The application deadline is Oct. 15. To sign up for the free grant-writing workshop, call the commission’s administrator, Gillian Jackson, at 617-730-2135, or e-mail brooklinearts@gmail.com . For more information, visit the agency’s website, www.brooklinearts.org.
