Welcome new Thompson Elementary School

The school district will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. next Sunday for the new Thompson Elementary School, at 187 Everett St. The school opened its doors to students in grades 1 to 5 on Tuesday, and its kindergartners started on Wednesday. The $20 million project began in the fall of 2011 with the demolition of the Thompson’s 55-year-old predecessor; the new building is designed to hold about 380 students, and it is the school system’s first facility to have an iPad for each student.
