Book club for moms, daughters

The Teen Zone Mother Daughter Book Club is starting at the Holliston Public Library for girls in sixth grade and older and their moms. The first meeting will be Tuesday to discuss the novel “Flygirl,’’ by Sherri L. Smith, which explores the story of an African-American female pilot flying noncombat missions during World War II. Will she be able to fool her superiors and fly to help the Allies? Or will she be forced back to the discrimination and poverty she experienced in 1940s Louisiana? Copies of the book are available at the library’s main desk. The discussion starts with pizza at 6 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. with a surprise activity, according to a posting on the library’s website, www.hollistonlibrary.org. Sign up at the adult desk at the library. For more information, contact Teen Zone librarian Jen Keen at jkeen@minlib.net or 508-429-0617. Future discussions will be held on Oct. 29 and Dec. 3.
