Children’s Hospital revisits building plan

Boston Children’s Hospital is revising its stalled plans to develop a large medical and general office building in Brookline Village. The hospital notified the town late last month that it wants to renew its permits for 2-4 Brookline Place with its revamped proposal, and will likely seek zoning changes at Town Meeting next spring . The hospital received permits in 2009 to tear down the structure at 2 Brookline Place and erect an eight-story, 252,000-square-foot medical and general office building, but the project stalled as the economy crashed and rents went down. The redesigned project calls for an eight-story office building at 2-4 Brookline Place with about 182,000 square feet of space, and a new wing added to the building at 1 Brookline Place, according to documents filed with the town’s Economic Development Advisory Board this month. Instead of the underground parking included in the original plan, the hospital is considering a seven-level, above-ground parking garage at the site of an existing four-level garage.
