Enrollment higher than expected


At its first meeting since the start of classes, the School Committee discovered that kindergarten enrollment this fall is far exceeding the numbers projected in the spring. Superintendent Joan Wickman told the board that there are 639 students at the Carlisle Public School in kindergarten through Grade 8, only one less than last year despite an anticipated decrease of nearly 40 students. Wickman said more families than expected had moved to town over the summer, and she anticipated still more late arrivals to be enrolling at the school.
