Plans for apartments at VA hospital

A recent Planning Board meeting included a report from assistant planner Catherine Perry about the resumption of plans to build 70 apartment units on the Veterans Administration hospital property on Springs Road. Perry said the housing would be made available to military veterans age 55 and older who receive services at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital and who are at a high risk for homelessness. The developer, Peabody Properties, is planning to have the complex meet energy efficiency requirements for LEED certification, she told the board at its Aug. 27 meeting. The minutes from the discussion are posted on the town’s website, www.bedfordma.gov.
