Surgeon to discuss his work in Haiti

The Wayland Free Public Library’s Great Presenters Series starts its new season at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 with a presentation by Dr. Robert C. Eyre on his medical missions to Haiti. The surgeon made three trips since last year to the island nation, which has been ravaged by natural disasters, diseases, and generations of systemic poverty. He will describe the social and health care conditions he witnessed, and ongoing initiatives to improve access to quality health care for the Haitian people. Eyre is an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and chief of urology at Faulkner Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess-Needham Hospital.
