Arlington

The school distirct will dedicate the library at the new Thompson Elementary School to the late Bill Shea in a ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday. Children’s book author Peter Reynolds will be the featured speaker at memorial ceremony, which will also recognize supporters of the “Books for Bill” campaign. The drive raised more than $80,000 for the library’s collection. Shea died in July 2012 after years of public service in Arlington, including as an elected Town Meeting member, and volunteer roles on the Human Rights Commission and the Permanent Building Committee. Refreshments will be served at the dedication of the new building at 187 Everett St., and there will be activities for children.
