Dog show is reset for next Sunday

After the family dog show scheduled for last weekend was rained out, organizers have rescheduled the event for next Sunday. The start time remains at 1 p.m. and the location is still Claxton Field . The gathering will feature classic dog show events with awards for the highest jumper, best trick, and best costume. The event will also feature categories for the “waggiest” tail, most adorable dog, and dogs who look most like their owners. There will be a parade of the show’s pups at the finale. All competing dogs must be older than 4 months, licensed with the town, properly immunized and kept on-leash. Entry costs $20 in advance, or $25 the day of the event; each additional dog per family is $10. Proceeds from the show will go toward creating an off-leash dog park at the Nike missile site. It is estimated the park will cost $25,000 to build, and supporters say they have already gotten about $7,500 since starting a fund-raising campaign in June. For more information on the dog show or the off-leash park, visit www.needhamdogpark.org.
