Scavenger hunt promotes local businesses

Residents are invited to take part in a scavenger hunt next month that is designed to encourage people to shop at local businesses. The scavenger hunt will take participants to shops, restaurants and companies around town while injecting some local history along the way, according to the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce, which is organizing the event. The hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Not Your Average Joe’s on Chapel Street. Each scavenger team should have four to five members of any age, a car and a licensed driver, and at least one smartphone, organizers said. Prizes and snacks will be doled out at the finish line at 3 Squares Restaurant. The hunt will cost $20 per team, and is expected to take about 2.5 hours. For more information, visit the chamber’s website, www.nnchamber.com.
