School officials are asking parents for their thoughts on changing the district’s calendar to start classes earlier in August and end them earlier in June. The proposal comes after the district hosted forums with parents to discuss how the school year’s calendar is drafted, and what administrators could do better. This fall, local students headed back to school during the first week of September. However, for next fall, officials are proposing to have students start on either Aug. 25, with a projected end date of June 17, or Aug. 27, with an end date of June 19. If residents wish to keep the school year as it is, then students would begin school Sept. 2, with an end date of June 24. Details on the proposals can be seen on the school district’s website, www.wellesley.k12.ma.us, which also has a link to a brief survey that allows parents to indicate which set of dates they would prefer.
