Group seeks help for homeless families

Friends of Families in Transition, a nonprofit organization aiding local homeless families, is seeking help from the community this winter. Barbara Jandrue, director of the Southborough Food Pantry, has asked residents to consider what they can do to help the 43 families placed by the state at the Best Western motel in Marlborough. The motel has limited accommodations for meal preparation, and local churches are trying to organize a monthly meal for the families. The participating churches will also have containers marked FIT to collect donations of nonperishable food items, personal-care products, and diapers from size 3 to pull-ups for the families. To volunteer for the effort, contact church administrators or Jandrue at bjandrue@aol.com.
