The town has received state funding to use toward the removal of the Old Mill Dam, which is off Pearl Street and spans the Charles River. The $188,000 grant and $312,000 loan for taking down the deteriorated structure, believed to have been built before 1900, are part of the state’s dam and sea wall repair and removal effort launched last year to address public safety issues caused by aging infrastructure. For more information on the fund, visit the town’s website, www.bellinghamma.org.
