Tax-filing assistance at library

The Milford Town Library is scheduling Saturday appointments for seniors and low-income residents to get help preparing their tax returns. The AARP Tax Assistance program is free for qualified people who are filing simple tax returns. Those eligible for the Massachusetts Senior Circuit Breaker, which is a state income tax credit for eligible residents over 65 years of age, must bring a copy of their real estate, water and sewer bills and receipts from last year to their appointment. Everyone must bring a copy of their 2012 tax return, and any W-2 forms, unemployment statements, SS-1099 forms, and health care documents from last year unless covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Photo identification is also required for first-time users of the service. The program will be offered each Saturday through April 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call the reference desk at the library at 508-473-2145, ext 219.
