The Wayland Police Department will hold a Citizen Police Academy for residents this fall. The academy will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. starting Sept. 14 and running through Nov. 2. The eight-week program will educate participants about the operations of the Police Department. The course will expose students to topics such as criminal/constitutional law, motor vehicle law, domestic violence prevention, and criminal investigations. Students will have an opportunity to ride along for part of a shift with a Wayland police officer.
