    Newton preliminary vote in mayor’s race set for Tuesday

    Newton voters will have their first chance to cast their ballots in a seven-way race for mayor during a city preliminary election set for Tuesday, Sept. 12. The candidates for mayor appearing on Tuesday’s ballot include Scott F. Lennon, Amy Mah Sangiolo, and Ruthanne Fuller, all of whom are city councilors-at-large. They are running for mayor alongside residents Eli Katzoff, Geoffrey Woodward, Al Cecchinelli, and Richard Saunders. Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The two mayoral candidates with the most votes Tuesday will appear on the Nov. 7 city general election ballot, which will decide who will replace current Mayor Setti Warren. The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 7 general election is Wednesday, Oct. 18, according to the city clerk’s office.
