Arlington has updated its Open Checkbook Web service to help keep residents informed about the town’s financial matters. Originally launched in April 2015, the service provides detailed information about where the town spends its money. The interactive website can be used to search vendor payments by category, department, and government area. “When the opportunity to improve the service and lower the cost came along, we seized it,’’ said Arlington Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine in a press release. “We continue to monitor industry trends for similar opportunities.” Updates to the service include a more intuitive user interface and compatibility with mobile devices. Additionally, the content will now be updated weekly. The site is available at www.arlingtonma.gov/budget.Jennifer FennLefferts can be reached at email@example.com.
